Newquay Evangelism: What is God's preferred pronoun?
I had a free forty minutes this morning so I decided to head down to the High Street of Newquay to share the gospel… it was an “interesting” time.
A Tale of Two Outreaches - Redcliffe & Manly
Please pray for all those we spoke to today; the darkness was great, but the light still shines. This really struck me when as I was handing out tracts among thousands of people celebrating paganism, a lone piper began to play Amazing Grace on the bagpipes. Even though the darkness celebrated, there in the midst of the darkness was God’s amazing grace!
Providence on Display in Redcliffe
In Psalm 37:23, we are told that the steps of a righteous / good man are ordered by the Lord. Today, I saw a very practical outworking of that biblical truth; the Lord’s providence was clearly displayed in Redcliffe.
The Flourishing of the Gospel in Redcliffe
John shook my hand and said, “Thank-you for talking to me and answering my questions. When I was a child my Pastors would not answer the hard questions, yet you stand here and give me very good answers. If they had answered, I am sure my life would be much different.”
"I am so glad you guys are here!" - Redcliffe Outreach
Upon hearing this they both smiled and said, “That makes sense.” The young man then said, “I am so glad you guys are here. I can approach you and ask questions. It is great that you are here to help me understand about God.”
A Hard and Hostile Day in Redcliffe
Some days I come home from witnessing with a spring in my step as it had been a good day of gospel ministry… today was not one of those days.
Moving to the United Kingdom!
God-willing, in December 2019 we will move from Australia to Cornwall in the United Kingdom, where I have accepted a call to become a Missionary / Pastor at Newquay Reformed Baptist Church.
“That is tremendous news!” - Plymouth Outreach
I then said to him, “Zane, if I said to you that you deserve Hell, but now you have to work really hard so that God may one day let you into Heaven, would that be good news?” He replied that would be terrible. I then followed up, “Zane, if I said to you that you deserve Hell, but Jesus paid the fine for those who trust in Him, would that be good news?” Zane smiled and exclaimed, “That would be tremendous news!”
Politicians, Roman Catholics, Freemasons and the Indifferent - Redcliffe Outreach
A day of conversations with Politicians, Roman Catholics, Freemasons and the Indifferent.
The Pastor's Son Who Didn't Know Jesus
The son of a Methodist Pastor thought the way to Heaven was through living a decent life. Read about what happened next.
Open-Air Preaching in South Auckland, NZ
As I preached I noticed a number of people stop to listen. One lady came out of a shop, then quickly returned into the store in order to get a notepad and pen. It turns out that she was a new Christian who wanted to learn more about the Bible so she took notes on my open-air message.
6 Year Old Girl: "I don't believe in God!"
The most startling and heartbreaking thing for me, was to hear the youngest girl, who would have been about 6 years old say several times, “I don’t believe in God.” She was adamant that God did not exist
A Church Leader Who Didn't Know the Gospel
One said he had not religious upbringing, the other two said they went to church. It was then that one of them said, “I am a youth leader at my home church.” He then told me about the large Pentecostal church where he was a leader. Well, this information made me change my tactics…
"You Christians are extremists; you are just like the Muslims!" - Redcliffe Outreach
Summer has well and truly arrived here in Queensland, Australia. The sun was high in the sky and the mercury was rapidly rising. For those who want to go to the beach for a swim, then this was perfect weather. But for evangelism, the heat actually limited the number of conversations we were able to have.
Logos 8: Changing the way I study
When I was first training for the ministry, I remember being told by an older pastor that I needed to be careful with habits and patterns of study which I established, as those methods would stay with me for the rest of my life. Of course, I was young and knew better (what a fool!), but over the years I have seen the truth in the older gentleman’s statement.
JW's, Pantheists, and open hearts - Redcliffe Outreach
Despite things being slow the gospel still marched on. Please pray the Lord Jesus would rescue many.
"Jesus and Muhammad have visited me!" - Redcliffe Outreach
This is when things got really weird. The man said that he couldn’t believe what we were saying, as Jesus had visited him in a dream and took him to Heaven. While in Heaven, this man claims Jesus revealed all the truth to him, and that ‘truth’ was that the Bible cannot be trusted. He also said that Muhammad had also visited him. I asked the man to explain further; he replied by saying, “Jesus and Muhammad have visited me!”
"May I have a Bible?" - Brisbane Outreach
After preaching for about fifteen minutes I concluded my message, and went back to handing out tracts. While I was witnessing I began to think upon Psalm 119:130, "The entrance of thy words giveth light."
"I've never been to church or heard of Jesus." - Gladstone Outreach
I set up the flip-chart near the table and used that to engage in conversation. Sometimes we would have two or three people stop to talk, then at other times we had a crowd of thirteen teenagers all crammed around the flip-chart to listen to the gospel presentation.
"I am so glad you are here!" - Redcliffe Outreach
It was particularly uplifting to have numerous Believers come up to me today saying, "I am so glad you are here!" and "It is great to see Answers in Genesis sharing the gospel. We need more of this!"
