London Outreach – Day 3 (Covent Garden)
We are halfway through the London Outreach, my body is beginning to ache, and I’m starting to feel tired, but the gospel is spreading, so I rejoice. Today, we made our way to Covent Garden in the heart of London. The outreach started a little later for me, as I had arranged to have lunch with Rico Tice of Christianity Explored Ministries.
After lunch, we made our way back to the outreach which was in full swing. The team was encouraged when Rico stood up to preach a short gospel message. One thing I respect about Rico is that he is the real deal – he isn’t just a pulpit or program evangelist; he will make the most of every opportunity.
I was the next preacher, and I must admit, I found the ground hard. There was little interaction with the preaching, and it was difficult to hand out tracts. I made numerous attempts to get into conversations, but most were rebuffed. Other team members were having a better time of it, but today I struggled. But I rejoice that the gospel was still going forth.
There was one lady who I did get to speak with; at first, she tried to interrupt Ivan as he preached to discuss a personal crisis she was facing. I managed to draw her over to me so we could chat. She was facing an issue with her relationship, so we spent a little time examining what the Bible says about the role of husbands and wives. I also stressed to her that she had value and worth. This allowed me to present the gospel. At the end of our conversation, she took a copy of the New Testament and a tract.
At around 4 pm, we packed down the outreach, and I thought that was it for the day. But, as we made our way to East Street Baptist Church for our evening meal, Stuart and I spotted Mormon missionaries. We called them over to us, and soon we were speaking with a missionary from Ghana and another from China. We explained the gospel and tried to answer their questions and objections. It was clear they were poorly taught in both Bible and LDS doctrine, so we did our best to present the truth. They were friendly, and both took tracts. Please pray for them.
The day didn’t go as I planned, but it went how the Lord ordained. Please pray for all those who heard the good news.
