‘Drive-Thru’ Evangelism – Brighton Outreach

Once a month, I aim to head to Brighton to work alongside Grace Church as they seek to reach the lost. This city has many needs and issues, all of which can be resolved through the Lord Jesus. Today, we had a good-sized team join us from the church, and despite the cold weather, we enjoyed a few hours of evangelism.

I began the preaching with a message titled “Warning: Six Deadly Lies.” There was little engagement, though a Spanish man listened. I spoke to him afterwards—he said the message had challenged him and requested a copy of the New Testament.

Skully preached next, speaking from John 4 about people being spiritual but not having Jesus. During this time, the literature table became busier, with more people stopping to engage in conversation. It was wonderful to see so many gospel discussions happening at once.

Oli was next to preach and did a great job calling on people to consider Jesus. He emphasised that Christ is the light, but we are in darkness.

I delivered the final message, this time on “Why Christianity?” It was difficult to get engagement, though I did speak with a group of homeless men who told me they had heard the message but remained unbelievers. They also mentioned they were grieving the recent suicide of a friend. Even though they didn’t repent and trust in Jesus, I pray the Lord will soften their hearts to the Word of Truth.

A unique aspect of today’s outreach was that the literature table became a ‘drive-thru.’ On two occasions, taxi drivers pulled up to the table and requested a copy of the Bible. We gladly handed them a copy of God’s Word through their windows.

It was a cold but enjoyable day in Brighton. Please pray for all those who heard the good news.
