The Spirit Does as He Wills - Lincoln Evangelism

The sun was shining and the weather was cool, but not freezing. It was ideal for evangelism. The city centre was busy with people from all different backgrounds, rushing through life without any thought for the One who made them. As we set up to preach, we weren’t sure what would happen, but we knew God’s purpose would be achieved.

As with the other days in Lincoln, I was joined by numerous people from the Living Waters Europe Ambassadors’ Academy. I set up the board and began to preach on “The Way to Heaven.” As I preached, I battled with pain from my injury, and if I viewed the situation with my physical eyes, it appeared as though not much was happening. People didn’t seem to engage; they paused, listened, then walked away. But if I could have seen what was happening spiritually, I would have seen that the Lord was at work.

A lady who listened to the preaching spoke with Natalie afterwards. She had been an atheist, but after seeing what was happening in the world, she had begun to think about God. Natalie was able to share the good news with her.

Two other young ladies who listened to the preaching were spoken to by a team member. After hearing the gospel again, those two ladies asked if they could pray to trust in Jesus.

I didn’t see any of this with my natural eyes; I was wondering if the preaching had connected with anyone, but God was at work.

Next to preach was Tim. He did the “Good Person Test.” At the end, a group of young people from the other day came back to talk further. It was encouraging to see these young people still thinking about the message they had been told previously.

Billy from Stoke preached next. Using an illustration from Lincoln Cathedral, he shared the good news of Jesus being the light of the world.

All around the outreach location, people were speaking with team members and hearing the good news. Some asked for prayers, and others wanted details of a local church. One man from Bulgaria downloaded the Bible onto his phone and spoke with team members about Jesus.

Andy preached the final message of the day. He spoke on “Four Big Problems.” A few people listened, including two young men who then spoke with Billy. It turned out one of them had listened to the preaching earlier in the week and had taken a John’s Gospel.

Even though I thought today was hard, the Spirit was doing as He willed. Please pray for all those who heard the good news.
